Gangs of Thyon 2016

It was a perfect weekend!!   The sun was shining, the park was in tip top shape, the beers were flowing, and the BBQ’s cooked up a storm,  feeding all the empty bellies that needed that “oh sweet Valais cheese.”

Like any contest you have winners and losers, but in this event everyone is treated like a true champ. Thyon has always been a place of community. It really shows how everyone from its staff, volunteers, and locals all come together to make this two day event happen. Central Park and its crew put together one hell of a course. The course started off with a three piece rail section, leading into a butter zone, and continued to a transfer gap. After conquering the first section, riders were led into another rail zone with playful features alongside. The run ended with the money booter and a six sided hip jump to finish.

This event was a lot different from your everyday slopestyle. Teams of four or five rode down together and battled it out trying to claim the top spot. There were a lot of close calls and mid air collisions, but if you weren’t on your feet and close to your teammates, your chances of continuing were not in your favor. The judging was spot on and the right teams claimed the podium and all the bragging rights that come with it.

Big Thanks to Maude, Xavier, and David for being such amazing hosts.
